Wrinkled Solitude:

It was one late evening when I saw my grandmother sitting at the dining table, absolutely silent, lost, and disconnected that it dawned on me. So many people spend the last and toughest years of their lives without a partner.  At first glance, one can't recognize this but there is a muted shroud of loneliness that hangs over them. It is as if, a part of them is lost forever. This loneliness also makes them self-reliant and while their
bodies are weak their resolve continues to get stronger.

In this series, I have tried to capture the daily life of my grandmother,
Hasumati Shah who lost her husband a few years ago. It is an attempt to capture her life, the nuances of her being and her state of solitude and strength.
